Dark Rising was a proof of concept trailer selected for the Universal Cable Productions inaugural development lab. Filmed on location in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, the film became the first step in a six-year development journey for an original, new fantasy-drama TV series.

The culmination of this work, presently a pilot and series developed through the NFTS, newly named 'Dark Rain' is a fresh, grounded take on the superhero genre, targeting audiences tired of sensationalist or shallow fantasy narratives.

By focusing on human themes of trauma, redemption, and resilience, Dark Rain offers a rich, emotional alternative to traditional superhero stories, blending social commentary with thrilling action.

It also centres a more ethnically and culturally diverse, international constellation of compelling, nuanced characters, sorely lacking in mainstream superhero fare.

The current project is is born out of two proof of concept shorts [Dark Rising (2019), Kali (2023)] and received a positive reception at a soft launch of the idea at Comic Con London 2019.
